BIEN Congress 2020: Submission of abstracts
Submission of abstracts is open, for the Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN) 2020 Congress, to be held in Brisbane, Australia, from 28–30 September this year. The deadline is on Friday January 31st, 2020.
BIEN 2020 poses the question, what can basic income offer in a time of ecological crisis and a new age of automation?
Australia is experiencing its worst ever bush fire season after its driest and hottest year on record. At the same time, wage stagnation, insecure work and high levels of household debt are driving greater economic inequality and insecurity. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) believes it is time to consider the role Basic Income (BI) could play in addressing the twin crises of climate change and inequality.
These challenges are obviously global and perspectives of BI scholars and activists from around the world are welcomed. Papers will not be limited to the Congress headline theme, and a full list of thematic areas can be found here. The Congress will be hosted at The University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology campuses, located in central Brisbane.
