The Unconditional Basic Income and Degrowth conference was held in Hamburg, Germany from May 19-20, 2016. A video of the opening keynote address, delivered by the philosopher Edward Skidelsky (University of Exeter), is now available on YouTube and on this page below.
According to the conference description:
The aim of the conference is to create a dialogue between the movements for degrowth and basic income. Each movement should learn about the relevance of the other and ultimately aim to identify points of intersection, common challenges and opportunities for cooperation. Ideally a long term network will be established that supports both topics and increases their relevance on a European level.

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY: Degrowth Conference Will Discuss Basic Income, Aug. 30-Sep. 3, 2016
Between 30 August and 3 September 2016, Budapest will host two parallel, yet complementary events. The 5th International Degrowth Conference will foster discussion between scholars, researchers, civil society and practitioners about their degrowth-related research and activities. Simultaneously, across Budapest, Degrowth Week will bring discussions, public panels, artistic performances and exhibitions, practical workshops and conviviality events into public space. This open platform for degrowth dialogue, practice, networking and expression will introduce Degrowth to Budapest and its inhabitants, and also to the scholars, researchers, civil society and practitioners being present at the conference.
The organizers write, “If you wish to share your thoughts, experiences or artistic expressions with Budapest and global degrowth communities, the time is now. The call for Degrowth Week events is officially open. You can suggest events and activities until midnight on May 1st. … Please join our Degrowth Week page and feel free to share your ideas and projects.”

5th International Degrowth Conference

Basic income will be a major topic at the 4th International Conference on Degrowth for Ecological Sustainability and Social Equity from September 2 to 6 in the German city of Leipzig. Activists from Netzwerk Grundeinkommen and from other basic income groups will give several talks, workshops and plenary contributions.

Werner Rätz, of Attac Germany’s working group enough for all, gave a lecture on 10 April in Brussels entitled, “UBI, Health, Degrowth.” According to Ratz, although the subjects of health and degrowth are closely linked to UBI, the UBI-movement has paid low attention to them up to now.
