Basic Income European Citizens' Initiative
Every morning at around 8 a.m., basic income guarantee campaigners in Europe receive an update from the European Commission on the number of signatures gathered in each country in support of the European Citizens’ Initiative for an Unconditional Basic Income. As of this writing with about 206 days to go, just over 17.2% of the required signatures have been gathered. Use the link provided to follow the European campaign’s progress.

I like the basic idea.Back in 1961 I came across what was left of a circa 1920s political part called Social Credit Later i learned that the Social Credit Party was repeatedly reelected to govern Alberta, a Province of Canada.They has a system of donating money from oil revenues to every resident of Alberta. The amount donated was proportional to how long the individual had been a resident of Alberta. Having mentioned this a few times over these many years my conclusion was that antipathy to the idea of a handout was much reduced on learning about the proportionality factor.
